Comprehend the Word: 2 Peter 3:8-10 (HCSB)
8 Dear friends, don’t let this one thing escape you: With the Lord one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years like one day. 9 The Lord does not delay His promise, as some understand delay, but is patient with you, not wanting any to perish but all to come to repentance.
10 But the Day of the Lord will come like a thief; on that day the heavens will pass away with a loud noise, the elements will burn and be dissolved, and the earth and the works on it will be disclosed.
Contemplate the Word:
I waited. Nothing.
I knew the segment my boys had permission to watch was over. I felt his eyes glance over to see if mom would say anything during this brief pause before scampering upstairs with the iPad and his little brother in tow. I waited a couple of minutes knowing full well what they were up to hoping repentance might overtake him. I was postponing judgment, hoping he would take the opportunity to turn from doing things his way.
The Word tell us that God is waiting in order to give more and more people a chance to repent and find life in salvation by faith in Jesus Christ. By God's measure in our understanding of time, it's simply been a few days since He raised His Son from the dead. Jesus is ready and waiting on the Father's instructions to go get His bride (those who have placed faith in Him) so we can be with Him forever in the perfect world we were created for free from sin, pain, guilt and shame.
But, who in your life is not yet ready to meet God face to face? God's Word promises that He is always at work, that the harvest is plentiful and and no one can come to Jesus unless the Father draws them.
Ask the Holy Spirit to bring someone to mind right now who does not yet know Him who does not know the gift of repentance.. Who might not know about the choice between life and death? You might even have the privilege of front row seats to the activity of God in their lives, and let me tell you, it'll ruin you for business as usual in the best possibly way.
Don't confuse God's patience with permission to coast. Instead, let's be prepared. Ask God to open doors for the gospel and when He does, follow the Spirit right through!

HE: FATHER GOD, YOUR NAME/KINGDOM/WILL...
